A burglary occurs apparently at the root of Kristi (Sprague Grayden) and Dan Rey (Brian Boland). Each room is trashed, except for that of their newborn son Hunter. The only thing missing is a collar that sister Kristi, Katie (Katie Featherston), had given her. After the incident, Dan installs a number of security cameras throughout the house.
The first night the pool lights off. Each night, the pool cleaner is removed from the pool mysteriously whose family pays almost no attention to later in the film.
Dan's daughter, Ali began to hear noises and see move items on their own in the coming days. Martine (Vivis Cortez), the nanny of the family, feels nervous and tries to cleanse the house of "evil spirits" instead of spots. Kristi talks to Katie about events at home, and reveals that girls have been tormented by a demon or spirit unknown when they were children.
Ali (Molly Ephraim) and her boyfriend Brad make a Ouija session and the board spells "Hunt" before the movie is cut. After the film is cut, the images from security cameras show Ali slept on the couch. At 11:06 the television reception is fuzzy and has a shadow under the door of the cellar and approaches Ali. When he touches her body, she wakes up suddenly. Heading upstairs, she heard loud knocking at the door. Ali opened the door and out the door slams behind her. She tries all the doors, but is unable to return home. Later that evening, security cameras to capture sequences of Hunter went out of his crib and wandering around the house. When Kristi and Dan come home, Hunter is back in its cradle, Ali comes from the front door saying she felt something watching her and he says his name.
Meanwhile, Ali begins to investigate mysterious events in the house. She read online that a man can make a deal with a devil for wealth or power of a fixed life of a firstborn son. She realizes that as a hunter, he had not been a male child born into a family Kristi and Katie from the time of their great-grandmother. Ali concludes that perhaps a demon torments the family to claim the boy to his own.

It passes through the kitchen to the front door, and the toy is again making noise. Frightened, she runs to her room. The next day, Ali shows Kristi what she had filmed and it contributes its weird. Kristi then Ali admits that as a child, she remembers being afraid all the time, but she does not remember why. Kristi relay all this to Katie during her visit next and talking to Katie infuriates. She says she remembers Kristi crying all the time and she would not speak. She tells her sister strongly that if they ignore and is certain he will leave.
After Kristi Hunter has for a nap, she gets coffee in the kitchen and sits on the bench. While reading a magazine, it looks as if he heard something. Each cabinet in the kitchen suddenly burst open. A terrified Kristi works at the Hunter room screaming to the entity to leave her alone. She comes back down and quickly closes all doors to the kitchen looks the same as before. When Ali asked him later if something happened, she said that everything is fine but then whispers to her that as long as they do not speak, everything will be fine.
One night, the cellar door opened by itself to alert the family dog, Abby. She heads down and inspects the cellar door, then it is violently attacked and pulled off camera by unseen forces, apparently suffering a seizure. Panic, Dan and Ali take the dog to the vet, leaving him with Kristi Hunter. While checking on the baby later that night, she noticed a light flickering in his room off. As she turns away to light, she is dragged out of the room and down the stairs before it is released. Kristi runs upstairs in the bedroom of Hunter, but was again violently dragged down, this time all the way into the basement. Finally, the cellar door is seen opening and Kristi had a look out of the cellar and through the living room (after being trapped in the soil for 24 minutes).
The next day, a grueling Dan rushes out of a working session (mentioning that he has to pick up Abby), leaving Ali home with Kristi, who will not get out of bed. Ali hears the sounds as low knock on the door of the cellar, she noticed that the inside of the door of the basement is covered with scratches. She also sees a word engraved on the door (not recognizing the word as "Meus", the Latin word "Mine"). Having established the floor by strange noises, Ali is Kristi Hunter in the room have a red bite on his thigh. She hears a detonation in the hall and turns, and when she looks back Kristi has disappeared. Hunter seeing him in his crib Ali picks. Kristi appears at the door angrily. The camera cuts and the next scene is a frenzy Ali calling her father, begging him to come home to deal with Kristi. Ali goes to the floor and cry and Kristi Hunter sees the ignorant, looking out the window. Ali Hunter approaches, but Kristi says Ali anger not to touch.
When Dan arrives, Ali, who is now looked at the security tapes of the previous day, begging him to watch the sequences of attack Kristi. After viewing the tape, he immediately calls for help Martine. Martine arrives and prepares a cross that will exorcise the demon, leaving Kristi with no memory of being possessed. After Dan tries once again to speak to an insensitive Kristi Martine said that they have to perform an exorcism on the demon Kristi to go on another blood relative. Dan and Ali argue the ethics of his plan to transfer to the devil for his wife Katie and son will be saved. While Ali believes it is unfair to Katie, Dan sees no other way to save his wife and son.
When Dan tries to use the cross on Kristi, she throws herself on him, and all the lights inside and outside the house out. They turn night vision camera on hand, and find that Kristi has disappeared, with Hunter, who was with Martine in the nursery. The furniture starts reversing, as Dan goes down. Ali points to the cellar door open and Dan breaks down crying hearing Hunter. When he stumbles on, the camera shows that Hunter is standing nearby. Dan hears it and leaves the camera to pick it up. Something hits the camera hard enough to blow up Dan. It goes back and Kristi demonic looking to pounce on him seems to want to bite. Dan Kristi button with the cross, causing the collapse of the floor and the ground tremble. Inhuman groans are heard, until finally the shaking stops suddenly and Hunter wanders through the camera. The next scene shows the power back on, then Dan is shown Kristi put to bed and then burn a photo of a young Katie to spend the devil for her.
Three weeks later, on September 18 Katie visits and asks how things are in the home of Kristi; heard that there were no other issues, she mentioned that strange things began happening to her. We see the return of Katie, she notes that Micah bought a new video camera (the scene is composed of approximately the first 2 minutes of the previous film). The action is then found to October 9, the night after the death of Micah. As Dan watches TV, Katie, now owned and covered in blood appears in the living room and breaks the neck Dan. She climbs the stairs and kill Kristi in the room of the hunter, his start against the camera and take the baby. Katie then leaves the room, cradling Hunter. Fades to black as the screen turns hunter crying laughing.
The film ends with text saying that Ali returned from a school trip to find the body of Daniel and Kristi Rey October 12, 2006, and the place and Katie Hunter remain unknown.
